FACS 343: Digital Drafting II

This class introduced 3-D modeling using online programs such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Revit. Digital Drafting I was a great intro to 2-D design, however, Digital Drafting II helps students use floor plans and 2-D objects to create 3-D models.

She-Shed Project

For this project, we had to research she-sheds and or doghouse type ideas in order to create our own she-shed on Sketchup. Designing everything to scale, we had to run our model through solid inspector ensuring it would be able to 3D print.

I was able to create physical texture, to see for the model below.

Sketchup Church Project

Continuing in Sketchup, we used a given church floor plan and elevations to create this model. Bringing up all the walls, the roof, trim and the base for the Millwork assignment. Then for the FF&E we added all the last final touches with the interior and appearance on the exterior. We did both the Sanctuary and the rest of the building.

Sketchup Church Project: Animation

This Animation gives a detailed walk through of the Church showing the interior design, and showing all of the light fixtures

Sketchup Church Project: Renders

This is a render of my youth room where there are couches to lounge, and a table to have activities/food on if necessary.

This render is of the nursery showing couches, cribs, and changing stations. It is conveniently right next to the sanctuary in case a baby cries during the service.

This render shows the coffee area/ lounge area for before or after the church service. It's a great space to relax and catch up with other people.

Here is the pastor's office which is nice for a private space to get things together, or to have a private meeting

Lastly, this render shows one of the kid's classrooms. It specifically focuses on the younger elementary kids during the church service.

Revit Church Project

For the Revit assignment, we used the same church floor plan used prior, and created a model in Revit. As it is more an architecture tool, walls are programmed easier as well as other tools, so this project did not take the same amount of time as the SketchUp model. We included the furniture, fixtures and equipment to the best of what was supplied through external sources.

Revit Church Project: Animation

Just as we did a SketchUp animation, we also were able to do a Revit walkthrough to see the scope of the building.

These Revit renders show the pastors' office, the nursery, conference room, and an external view of the building.

Christmas Ornament

For this assignment we went back into Sketchup and made little Christmas ornaments that were clean through solid inspector to be 3-D printed as shown below.
