An introduction to basic drawing fundamentals including gesture line, contour line, positive and negative space, linear perspective, sight measurement techniques, modeling perspective, and composition.
Blind Contour Drawing Exercise

The challenge with this exercise was to focus on an object and not look away or lose focus.
We were instructed to draw our own hand (the non dominant one so we could draw with our other hand). On the left is my right hand flat on the table, and on the right is my right hand facing up.

Linear Perspective Exercise
For this exercise we had to draw boxes in 1 point, 2 point and 3 point perspective. It is very fascinating that the same size object can look so different when in a different perspective.

Measuring Exercise

This assignment was not just a see it, draw it type thing. We had to learn a specific method on how to measure the image on the right, to transfer and draw on the left. It is actually harder than it looks and challenged me!
Still Life Outline
Still Life Render

Starting this assignment in class, we had to draw an outline (contour line) of this bowl of pomegranates. Then we had to draw it to the best of our ability with no tracing to create a render.

Master Drawing Render

Reference

For this master render, our class was taught how to draw from a grid. I usually don't like this method, but for this piece it was helpful to draw every detail.
Self-Portrait:
Line Work

Drawing a Self-Portrait is definitely not my strong suite, but I was able to apply rendering principles that we learned in class to this drawing. Just outlining it helps, as I know for me it is easy to get detailed too soon.

Constructed Human Figure Exercise
This exercise helped our class work on human proportions and scale. Sometimes it appears easier than it is.

House Rendering
Drawing this house was a challenge. We had to draw it exactly like the original, and what was so unique and odd about this house, is that finding the perspective was so difficult. It seemed like there were so many, but it all depends on the angle.

Perspective Drawings

We were able to practice a bunch with perspective drawings throughout this class. Growing up I learned all about it, but it was a good refresher. Even though I knew what I was doing, I was able to practice drawings in more detail. On the left is a three point perspective, and below is a two point perspective.
